Recreation Program Supervisor

Job title: Supervisor I

Reports to: Executive Management

Hours: Monday-Friday, One Weekend Day on Rotation

Pay Grade: Starting at $18/hour



Job purpose

Program Supervisors provide on-site support and general oversight of program coaches, to ensure programs are being run in accordance with established guidelines and safety procedures. Supervisors are expected to have the ability to handle any facility problems or behavioral issues at a program with limited input and direction from Executive Management. Supervisors also work directly with Executive Management to evaluate effectiveness and efficiency of program staff, curricula, and operational controls and procedures.



Duties and responsibilities

Implement and Supervise Programs

· Runs programs and parties as necessary

· Supervises programs and parties instead of running their own, as directed by Executive Management

· Reports any incidents or concerns clearly and completely to Executive Management


Oversee Weekend Activities

· Organizes and supervises scheduled programs and parties one weekend day per week, on rotation

· Communicates with Executive Management as necessary to ensure weekend activities are running smoothly

· Addresses any weekend conflicts or program issues effectively and completely with limited input from Executive Management


Work with Executive Management

· Participates in bi-weekly management meetings

· Conducts coach and program evaluations, as directed by Executive Management

· Assists with functional business activities, as directed by Executive Management



Qualifications

Energetic, flexible, and a strategic thinker, a successful program Supervisor can plan well and juggle many responsibilities. He or she is an excellent communicator, with a passion for serving, working with, and leading all kinds of people.

Basic Qualifications:

· Experience with events coordination and planning

· Excellent written and oral communication skills

· Physical fitness

· Effective decision-making

· Access to reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license

· Must be able to work at least one weekend day per week


Additional Qualifications Preferred:

· Knowledge of emergency procedures, First Aid and CPR

· Knowledge of the management and operation of recreation facilities and equipment

· Understanding of coaching theory and practice



Working conditions

This position requires work outdoors, in school environments, and with children. Weekend availability is a must for applicants.



Physical requirements

This position may require heavy lifting and extended time working on your feet. Supervisors are expected to be able to handle a physically demanding role.
