Description : Under direction of an administrative officer, is responsible for the handling of all federal and private state grants within a Department and the development of methods and means to secure new funds for proposed programs; does related work as required.

*Appointee will be employed by a staffing agency to work for NJ DEP.

Specific to the Position: Appointee will be responsible for planning, developing and managing assigned grant programs, and will work in collaboration with the Assistant Commissioner and her team to award grants to support and build a diverse, inclusive green workforce for all New Jerseyans. The appointee will work as a liaison between Community Investment and Economic Revitalization and the Office of Budget and Financial Operations to monitor grant fund expenditures; will oversee and perform on-site monitoring visits with organizations receiving funds, as well as establish and maintain strong relationships with organizations that receive funding. Additionally, the appointee may support coordination of federal grants and the development of methods and means to disperse funds, and may help formalize a process to review plans for the administration of federally funded programs and advise of acceptability and adequacy of the proposed plans.

Requirements

Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree.

NOTE: All U.S. degrees and transcripts must be from an accredited college or university. All foreign degrees and transcripts must be evaluated for accreditation by a recognized evaluation service by the closing date of this posting. Failure to provide documentation may result in ineligibility.

Experience: Four (4) years of experience in the coordination of grant funding in a public or private organization including basic experience in the operation and procedures normally associated with federally funded grants and demonstration projects.

NOTE: Applicants who do not possess the required education may substitute experience as indicated above on a year-for-year basis.

License: Appointees will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform the essential duties of the position.

Appointees may be required to possess a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and applicable endorsements for the class and type of vehicles being operated.

Residency: All persons newly hired on or after September 1, 2011 have one year from the date of employment to establish, and then maintain principal residence in the State of New Jersey subject to the provisions of N.J.S.A. 52:14-7 (L.2011, Chapter 70), also known as the "New Jersey First Act".

Authorization to Work: Selected candidates must be authorized to work in the United States per the Department of Homeland Security, United States Citizenship and Immigration Services regulations. Note: The State of New Jersey does not provide sponsorship for citizenship to the United States.
