District Court Clerk (Part-Time)

Job Summary:
Performs clerical duties related to civil, criminal, traffic, probation and/or administrative proceedings in a District Court. Provides assistance to the public, attorneys and law enforcement personnel. Prepares notices of hearings to ensure proper court dates and probation appointments. Acts as scheduling coordinator among the judges, prosecutors, attorneys, and police personnel. Receives fines, costs, fees, bonds, civil escrow and records them in a computerized cash register. Prepares summons to jurors and pay vouchers for juror attendance. Works with defendants on their financial status and approves payment schedules, other means to pay or advises the judges of same. As assigned assists in the preparation of reports and special projects. Operates a cash register, personal computer, a main frame computer system, CLEMIS and LEIN functions and related equipment. Utilizes current Countywide and/or department specific software to complete assignments.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Under the Merit System Resolution, Section II, adopted November 8, 1966, employees in this class are excluded from the Merit System for the purpose of the manner of selection, appointment, removal from office or limitation or political activity.

NOTE: The Desirable Qualifications for this classification, when provided to the Human Resources Department will be stated on a separate page. These Desirable Qualifications may be subject to revision by the District Court Administrator and/or Chief District Court Judge.

Note: Job performance, knowledge, ability and/or previous experience may substitute for Desirable Qualifications. The District Court Administrator and/or Chief District Court Judge has the right to waive the desirable qualifications. 






 

 

 Special Requirements:

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

1. High school graduate or have a certificate of successful completion of the General Education Development Test.


ADDITIONAL DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
1. Have at least three (3) years full-time experience in a court system or comparable qualifications that meet the Court Administrator's approval.

2. Have knowledge of and experience in the operations, policies, and procedures of a district court.

3. Familiar with current word processing, spreadsheet, database, e-mail, and Internet software.
