You will work with a multi-disciplinary team of transportation professionals in assisting the North Carolina Department of Transportation in delivering its challenging and diverse $1.4 billion Federal-aid Highway Program. As the finance manager, you will be responsible for providing leadership, coordination and authoring of financial advice to the North Carolina Federal-aid Highway Division Office staff, and state & local government officials. You will also perform complex duties in the areas of financial management, management analyses, procurement, and contract administration.

As a Supervisory Transportation Finance Manager, you will:

  • Represent the Division Administrator and have delegated authority to develop, promote and implement improved accounting practices and procedures.
  • Manage the Division's Financial Integrity Review and Evaluation (FIRE) Program, a review and oversight program requiring annual certification of internal financial controls.
  • Implement and conduct financial management system reviews and evaluations of the state DOT and local governments and provide professional and technological advice and assistance.
  • Plan and conduct reviews and evaluations of the State’s financial processes and systems and administer the Financial Management Information System (FMIS).
  • Be responsible for overseeing staff in the delivery of products and/or services and administering and evaluating programs, policies, and procedures in the assigned program area(s).

The ideal candidate is a financial expert experienced in the review, interpretation and application of financial management programs and policies. The candidate is experienced in leading and overseeing financial reviews, working with senior level professionals in various organizations, serving as a senior agency/organization representative and leading people.
