Life Scientist/Environmental Engineer/Physical Scientist - R8

This position is in Region 8, Superfund and Emergency Management Division, Emergency Management Branch, Preparedness and Site Assessment Section. About Region 8: https://www.epa.gov/aboutepa/epa-region-8-mountains-and-plains 

This is an office-centered position*--you must physically report to the duty station stated in this announcement on a regular basis.

Duties

 

At the entry level of this position, you will:

Serve as a Site Manager responsible planning, conducting, coordinating, and overseeing assessment work performed by contractors or grantees at
suspected hazardous waste sites within assigned states or tribal reservations, completing required reporting, and referring contaminated sites for cleanup. Determine appropriate cleanup actions, methods, and tools for toxic and hazardous waste sites.

Serve as a Preparedness Project Manager responsible for planning, conducting, coordinating and managing efforts to prepare and build response capacity for
environmental emergencies, mitigating the impacts of oil spills and chemical releases at the tribal, state, local and industry level to achieve preparedness program objectives.

Provide oversight and resources to contractors, grantees, and cooperative agreement holders as a Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR) to further assessment and preparedness program initiatives.
