Center for Academic Resources (CFAR) Academic Mentor

CFAR Academic Mentors work weekly, one on one, with other students to help them be successful at UNH. Many of our students are first year students making the transition into college academics and don't know what they don't know. Mentors are paid $14/hour for all initial and ongoing training, supervision meetings, and their work with students. Mentors:

  • Teach effective study skills: the study cycle, notetaking, reading, test taking, within students' coursework

  • Assess and develop students' ability to learn and remember course material
  • Develop personalized time management and organizational plans

  • Explore CANVAS, syllabi, course resources, and online portals

  • Discuss the factors impacting students' ability to be academically successful
  •  Refer students to other UNH academic and support services

Mentors are the heart and soul of CFAR, and we rely on them to keep the program running. Please think critically about your commitments for next year and your ability to commit 6 to 8 hours in two-hour time blocks to this job.
