Hourly Laboratory Technician I (JR-0000800)

Responsibilities

Health Research, Inc. is seeking an Hourly Laboratory Technician I to work within the Wadsworth Center. The incumbent will be responsible for assisting with studies investigating the complex interactions between the Lyme disease spirochete, Borrelia burgdorferi, its tick vector (black legged tick), and its mammalian host (mouse). The Hourly Laboratory Technician I will have the opportunity to learn techniques in microbiology, immunology, molecular biology and etymology. The position is a unique opportunity for individuals interested in zoonotic diseases and global public health.

This position will be part of a dynamic team serving the Wadsworth Center’s mission in the New York State Department of Health’s efforts to protect and promote the health of New York’s citizens. Come be a part of Science in the Pursuit of Health.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in biology or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

Academic training in zoonotic diseases, molecular biology, genetics, biostatistics, global public health, animal models of disease, microscopy, laboratory research experience.

Conditions of Employment
Grant funded, hourly position expected to last through 08/20/2024. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required.

Valid and unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. is required. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

This position requires that the incumbent will report to the official work location and live within commuting distance to the official work location. Telecommuting will not be available.
