About Rising Stars Residency

The Arts Ignite PHSSA Rising Stars is a one-week musical theater residency where 50-75 students in grades K-5 will learn about the performing arts through classes in Acting, Music, Visual Arts and Dance.

Through daily classes and rehearsals, our residency will offer students the opportunity to engage in arts-rich learning. Teaching Artists and interns will work with students on performance projects for a culminating community event and sharing at the end of the program. Each project will be inspired by the theme of the school’s end-of-year play, which is about judging things not by their appearances but by their actions, and will focus on cultivating students’ social emotional skills in relationship building and self-awareness. Additionally, interns will be partnered with a Teaching Artist in their discipline to assist in building curriculum and facilitating classes.
