Engineer Scientist I Intern
Essential Duties & Job Functions:
- Provide the NIWC Acquisition Team Lead with engineering support services for the USCG IPT Contract.
- Provide day-to-day engineering support with a focus on design, drafting, and illustrating to include computerized drafting applications, digital imaging techniques, and use of AutoCAD and Inventor.
- Design and model 3D parts and assemblies to create and provide fabrication and assembly technical drawings for the production and assembly of shipboard design solutions.
- Analyze design solutions using FEA software to assess stresses on parts and assemblies.
- Aid in the assembly process of complex products.
- Conduct quality assurance to ensure parts reflect drawings and standards provided.
- Utilize 3D printing technology for rapid and effective prototyping and testing of designs.
- Providing project technical and engineering support, including defining project scope, requirements, solutions, and deliverables; consulting with customers, working groups, and experts as needed; implementing plans to meet goals and objectives; providing recommendations to coordinate and integrate activities and to resolve complex problems impacting installation activities as required.
- Provide consulting on understanding drawings and technical documentation required to install, troubleshoot, and test C5I and HM&E systems.
- Provide consultation on data calls from NIWC Customer & leadership as directed.
- Perform other duties as required.
Job Requirements
Mandatory:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
- Must have the ability to obtain a Secret Clearance.
- U.S. Citizenship.
