Financial Specialist - Senior

Introduction

 

 

Serve a critical role for the Division of Motor Vehicles performing general ledger accounting and reconciliation work for over $1.4 billion in revenue collected annually as a Financial Specialist - Senior!

This position is located in the Accounting Unit at the Hill Farms State Office Building in Madison, WI. After an initial training period, this position will have the opportunity to work remotely up to 3 days per week.

Position Summary

 

In this position, you will handle a number of daily transactions and reporting including bad payments, bankruptcies, customer refunds, returned checks, aging accounts, scanning checks to the bank, reconciling stations and the timely posting of the daily customer payments received in the mail. You will serve on a team answering phone calls and emails from external business partners and the public related to refunds, suspensions, payments, and other miscellaneous questions. This position requires personal contact with customers, researching problems, creating deadlines for response, and follow up for potential suspensions.

Salary Information

 

This position is in schedule-range (02-13) with an hourly salary of $25.32, plus excellent benefits. A twelve-month probationary period is required. Pay for current state employees will be set in accordance with the Wisconsin State Compensation Plan.

For permanent positions that allow remote work flexibility, it is not anticipated that working outside of Wisconsin (or bordering cities) will be allowed because positions may need to report to office locations in Wisconsin on short notice.

Qualifications

 

Qualified applicants will have experience with all the following:

  • Experience working with and referencing financial principles and/or procedures
  • Experience providing customer service via phone, email, or chat
  • Experience utilizing Microsoft Excel software or similar

In addition to having all the above, well qualified applicants will have experience with one or more of the following:

  • Experience performing account audits and reconciliations
  • Experience processing invoices in PeopleSoft or other comparable finance module or software
