Entry-Level Engineer

We are a multi-disciplined team of civil, water resources, geotechnical, and structural engineers as well as scientists, technicians, and support staff that promotes close coordination and team building. Our company has immediate openings for Entry-Level Engineers. Typical candidates will be majoring in Water Resources, Geotechnical, Civil, Structural, or Environmental Resources Engineering. We are seeking committed, detail-oriented individuals who will be able to utilize their knowledge and experience, as well as current software technologies, for our clients’ immediate and future projects. 

Gomez and Sullivan has the following entry-level positions available:

Water Resources Engineers. Typical responsibilities include:

  • Hydrologic analyses using HEC-HMS/GeoHMS or similar to develop flows for hydraulic models.
  • Hydraulic modeling using HEC-RAS/GeoRAS for floodplain mapping, dam break analyses, river restoration and dam removal projects, dam safety and rehabilitation studies, etc.
  • Operations modeling and energy analyses using HEC-ResSim or similar for the development, upgrading, or relicensing of hydroelectric projects.
  • Data analysis and mapping using ArcGIS. Technical writing for project documents.

Geotechnical Engineers. Typical responsibilities include:

  • Geotechnical investigation/evaluation of earthen dams, including slope stability analyses, earthquake/liquefaction/deformation studies, and seepage/piping evaluations.
  • Design of foundations and earth retaining structures.
  • Erosion studies and design of protection measures.
  • Foundation evaluation and stability analyses for concrete dams.
  • Developing and/or reviewing construction sequencing, design plans and specifications and permit applications.
  • Oversight of drilling, testing, and instrumentation installation.
  • Data analysis and technical writing for project documents.

Civil/Structural Engineers. Typical responsibilities include:

  • Stability analyses of various dam configurations including earthen embankment, concrete gravity, timber crib, Ambursen, etc.
  • Design for new structures (dams, retaining walls, fish passage structures, etc.) or remediation of existing structures.
  • Dam safety and rehabilitation studies including onsite inspections and condition assessments.
  • Development of construction sequencing, design plans and specifications, and Opinion of Probable Construction Costs (OPCCs).
  • Data analysis and technical writing for project documents.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • BS in Water Resources, Geotechnical, Civil, Structural, or Environmental Resources Engineering (MS preferred)
  • Registered as an Engineer-in-Training
  • 0 to 5 years of experience
  • Additional experience with any of the following is a plus: ArcGIS, surveying, drafting software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or Revit), structural analysis software (Visual Analysis, STAAD.Pro, etc.), hydrologic/hydraulic modeling software (HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS), or geotechnical analysis software (i.e., GeoStudio Suite including SEEP/W, SLOPE/W, QUAKE/W).
