Engineering Intern

The Lowell Regional Wastewater Utility (“The Utility”) manages wastewater and stormwater in and around Lowell (including the surrounding towns of Chelmsford, Dracut, Tewksbury, and Tyngsborough). The Utility operate and maintain an extensive system of infrastructure that collects and treats wastewater and stormwater 24/7, 365 days/year, while also further protecting human health and the environment through a number of other initiatives. 

 

The Utility’s Engineering Division is an nine-person group that plans and designs capital improvement projects, supports the Operations and Maintenance departments, implements an industrial pretreatment program, manages inter-municipal wastewater activities, interacts with other municipal departments, operates a stormwater management program, and collaborates with engineering consultants. Intern job duties may include, but not limited to, the following: field mapping, water sampling, ArcGIS and applications (Survey 123, collector, workforce, etc.), Standard Operating Procedure development, AutoCAD plan updates, pretreatment inspections and sampling, operational data support, administrative duties, and other duties. 

The Utility is seeking an engineering intern for the summer of 2024. This is a full-time summer internship position (40 hours/week), working eight hours per day. The wage rate is up to $20/hour and extends from May to August 2023. No benefits are available with this internship; US citizenship is required.
