This is a Student Internship position under the Pathways Internship Program.

To qualify for this Internship, you MUST be a continuing student enrolled or accepted for enrollment for the current/upcoming semesters for the duration of the internship as a condition of employment, taking at least a half-time course load. You will be required to provide documentation to support eligibility. Students may be employed throughout the academic year.

This is a developmental position within FHWA's Office of Innovation Management, Education, and Partnerships. The position is designed to provide interns with challenging assignments that will broaden their perspectives on issues facing the government and prepare them for future positions throughout the government.

The Program Analyst Pathways Student Intern will have the opportunity to work in the Office of Innovation Management, Education, and Partnerships (HIT-IMEP) and will assist higher-level staff with support in the coordination, facilitation, and implementation of the operations in HIT-IMEP. This position will provide students an opportunity to be exposed and to participate in activities, innovations, and challenges facing the transportation industry today. You will: 

  • Assist in managing Dwight D. Eisenhower Transportation Fellowship Program (DDETFP) closeouts per the signed grant agreements made out to each institution.
  • Update DDETFP tracking spreadsheet listing all the institutions, fellows, and grant agreement numbers along with documents submitted.
  • Meet with Program Manager regarding various DDETFP deliverables including.
  • Attend bi-weekly FHWA/Contractor Meetings.
  • Assist Program Manager with collection of annual Statements of Work from the State DOTs.
  • Assist with analysis of data regarding Program Host sites and participants for the 2024 National Summer Transportation Institute Program (NSTI) season.

The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills - they will have a "go-getter" mentality with an interest in advancing transportation knowledge to others.

The ideal candidate will possess the ability to work independently once guidance and direction have been provided but understands the importance of asking questions if needed.

The ideal candidate will have good communication skills written and oral as well as the ability to provide some simple analysis.
