The National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism (START) is seeking qualified applicants for a part-time, hourly Marketing and Communications Assistant. As a member of the Communications team, the Marketing and Communications Assistant will:

  • Create and maintain Google Ads and social media ads in support of START’s programs.
  • Monitor ad performance and make strategic adjustments and recommendations.
  • Write articles and content for website, social media, and other communication channels in support of START’s education programs and research projects.
  • Design graphics for use on START’s social media, website, and other channels as needed.
  • Assist with the promotion and execution of START-related events.
  • Participate in meetings to brainstorm content ideas, discuss projects, and provide feedback on communications and marketing strategies.
  • Other projects to be assigned on an as needed basis.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong interest in storytelling across many platforms.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and creative skills.
  • Familiarity with Google products and tools.

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience building and monitoring Google and social media advertising campaigns.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with Adobe products and photography/video editing skills are a plus.
  • Graphic design experience.
  • Experience writing website and/or marketing content

Salary and Work Location: This is an hourly position, with an anticipated start date of April 1, 2024, with an hourly rate of $25/hr and an average time commitment of 10 hours per week. The position is currently funded to last for 3 months. The person selected for this position is eligible for telework.
