Accountant

Job Overview:

As the Accountant you will be responsible for performing the timely and accurate accounting functions and activities of the Cooperative. Assist with financial transactions, cash management and maintenance of complete records for all financial activities in accordance with established policies and accepted accounting principles. Provide management with the Cooperative’s detailed financial and statistical operations for decision making purposes. Assist all departments in gathering data and providing information in the most efficient way for organizational studies.

A Few Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct accounting activities in accordance with generally accepted accounting procedures, maintain all records in accordance with established retention guidelines and submit all financial and statistical reports, as required.
  • Manage process of depreciation of all capitalized plant items and reconciliation of all fixed assets and liability accounts supported with a detailed subsidiary record.
  • Make all principal and interest payments on the due date as set forth in each loan agreement.
  • Maintain and balance Miscellaneous Receivables to General Ledger.
  • Prepare and send the sales/use tax monthly payments.
  • Monitor loan fund balances and requisition long term/short term loan funds.
  • Monitor general fund account balance for availability of funds required to meet payables and for investment of excess funds.
  • Monitor all clearing accounts for items charged and charge off to proper expense or capitalized as approved by the Uniform System of Accounts Bulletin.
  • Assist in the activities of the accounting section in accordance with the annual budget to accomplish the objectives defined by the work plan.
  • Assist in filing IRS form 990 and supporting data in a timely manner.
  • Assist in the administration of capital credits.
  • Assist in the reporting on the Cooperative financial position in areas of income, expense, equity levels and other financial requirements based on the past, present and future to the Chief Executive Officer.

Qualifications:

  • Education – B.S. degree or A.S. degree with equivalent experience in accounting or related field.
  • Experience – Preferred experience in general and/or utility accounting and finance.
  • Licenses – Must have a valid Operator Driver’s License
