PAY AND BENEFITS

 

Annual Pay Range: $43,493.11 - $54,711.89

 

Hourly Pay Range: $20.910149 - $26.303793

 

Salary offers will be made within the posted pay range and will be based on a candidate's experience (paid or unpaid) that is directly relevant to the position.

We are searching for a motivated, self-directed, customer service focused, and highly dedicated individual with strong communication and interpersonal skills to join our team as a Two-year Limited Term Library Assistant at the Clackamas County Library for Oak Lodge & Gladstone branches. If selected for this position, you will be responsible for providing direct patron service and performing tasks related to the circulation of materials. In this role, you will assist patrons in using library materials and services, explain the online catalog and library classification system and answer basic reference questions. Assisting the Librarian, you will act as the lead worker for other staff and volunteers.

 

Oak Lodge and Gladstone Libraries are a part of the Department of Transportation & Development (DTD) under Community Services. We are committed to providing direct public library services to the Oak Lodge and Gladstone communities within the LINCC consortium. We are searching for an individual, who is motivated to contribute to a team with a strong focus on quality library services, innovative outreach, programming, and who can demonstrate strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.

 

Required Minimum Qualifications/ Transferrable Skills:*

 

• A minimum of three (3) years of related experience providing direct customer service to the public

• Experience working in a library environment

• Knowledge of library methods, procedures, practices and terminology

 

Preferred Special Qualifications/ Transferrable Skills:*

 

• Experience interpreting and applying rules and standards of the County library system and the consortium

• Experience using the Dewey Decimal classification system

• Experience using the Symphony library software system

• Experience leading the work of others

• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Outlook

• Bilingual skills (Spanish or Russian)

WORKING CONDITIONS

 

Duties require continuous walking/moving, standing for extended periods, frequent squatting, kneeling, bending, twisting, reaching forward and overhead, fine motor control, and the ability to lift 35 pounds, lift and carry 20 pounds, overhead reach 5 pounds, and push/pull 20 pounds. Duties also involve exposure to dust and odors/fumes including strong perfumes.

 

WORK SCHEDULE

 

This position works 40 hours during a standard workweek of Monday through Friday. Specific hours of work will be discussed with the candidate selected for this position at the time an offer of employment is extended.

 

Please Note: This position is designated as on-site/in-person. It is expected that the selected candidate will perform duties at the specified on-site work location.
