Location: Alpine Scout Camp, Alpine New Jersey

Job Description: We are seeking a dynamic Aquatics Director to lead our aquatics program at Alpine Scout Camp. The Aquatics Director is responsible for managing all aquatic activities, ensuring participant safety, and delivering high-quality instruction in swimming, boating, and other water-based activities. The Aquatics Director will lead and manage a team of lifeguards and instructors, maintain equipment, and ensure compliance with BSA standards and local regulations. This is an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact on youth development in an outdoor setting.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all aspects of the camp's aquatics program, including swimming, water safety activities, and pool management.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all campers and staff participating in aquatic activities.
  • Train, supervise, and mentor a team of lifeguards and aquatics instructors.
  • Maintain and inspect aquatics equipment and facilities to ensure they are safe and functional.
  • Conduct safety drills and emergency response training regularly.
  • Enforce all BSA and local safety regulations and guidelines.
  • Keep accurate records of participant attendance, certifications, and any incidents.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve the aquatics program to enhance the camper experience.
  • Promote the values of Scouting America through aquatics activities.

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Current certifications in BSA Aquatics Supervision, Lifeguard, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, and First Aid. (Training provided for the right candidate)
  • Prior experience in a supervisory role within an aquatics program, ideally in a camp environment.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with youth and adults.
  • A strong commitment to safety and risk management.
  • Enthusiasm for working outdoors and in a camp setting.
  • Ability to pass a background check and adhere to BSA policies.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Lifeguard Instructor, Water Safety Instructor, Lifeguard Management, and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer
  • Experience in program development and staff training.
  • Familiarity with BSA aquatics program and safety standards.
