Staff Engineer

Infrasense is anticipating significant growth in the next 1-2 years, and is currently looking to hire for multiple positions, including a Full-Time Staff Engineer. Responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Performing routine engineering tasks; requiring knowledge and application of basic engineering principles under close supervision ∙Conducting routine data collection, synthesis, and analysis using approved procedures
  • Documenting project-related activities
  • Preparing high quality deliverables that are on time, and within budget and scope. Deliverables include but are not limited to: site drawings, condition maps, and reports.
  • Working in collaborative multidisciplinary teams to meet all assigned project deadlines
  • Willing to travel (25%-50%), typically ~1 week per month between April – October
  • Drafting technical sections of project communications and reports
  • Performing all work in accordance with company and client Health & Safety protocols
  • Contributing to development of technical procedures/ methods
  • Providing technical guidance and mentoring to team members to achieve overall project objectives on complex or unusual engineering projects
  • Performing all work with a positive can-do attitude
  • Assisting with the development of scope of work and level of effort for projects and/or assignments within discipline
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds, walk for extended periods, work in all weather conditions, willing to work evenings/weekends when required, willing to travel for overnight and extended stay projects as required

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related engineering discipline
  • Active driver’s license
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with multiple deadlines
  • Experience with Excel, PowerPoint, and Word required
  • Passion for learning and a strong work ethic

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or related engineering discipline or 2+ years of experience
  • Experience in Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) according to American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE)
  • Experience with nondestructive testing/evaluation methods (e.g., ground penetrating radar, infrared thermography, falling weight deflectometer, seismic, acoustic, sonic/ultrasonic, etc.)
  • Experience with AutoCAD or MicroStation
  • Experience with ArcGIS
  • Experience with programming (MATLAB, Python)
  • Experience with signal and image processing, and with GUI development
  • Licensed Professional Engineer
  • Licensed Professional Land Surveyor
  • Proficient in the use of survey equipment such as total stations, data collectors, auto levels, and GPS units
  • Experience with surveying projects that have included boundary, topographic, existing conditions, and utility surveys
  • Experience working with State DOT projects
  • Experience managing traffic control contractors

  • Focuses on continuous improvement balanced with client expectations
  • Complies with all Infrasense policies and procedures
  • Reviews jobsite safety daily and takes immediate action to document and resolve issues
  • Submits accurate timesheets, mileage, and expense reports on time
  • Drives self-development by actively seeking new ways to grow and be challenged using both formal and informal development channels, with development focused on their future career path
  • Participates in cross - training as requested to build a stronger team
