PAY AND BENEFITS

 

Annual Pay Range: $62,895.96 - $79,493.86

 

Hourly Pay Range: $30.238443 - $38.218203

 

Salary offers will be made within the posted pay range and will be based on a candidate's experience (paid or unpaid) that is directly relevant to the position.

JOB DETAILS AND QUALIFICATIONS

We are seeking a motivated, self-driven and collaborative individual to join our dynamic team as an Adult Services Librarian (classified as Librarian 1) at the Clackamas County Oak Lodge and Gladstone Libraries. If selected for this position, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating and evaluating adult programming, and for providing collection development, adult reference, and circulation services. With two new library buildings on the horizon, this is an exciting opportunity to reimagine and grow the programs and services provided to our community!

 

In this role, you will provide professional library services and programs designed to assist patrons and the general community in the selection of books, documents, and other materials for reading and research, reference purposes, or general recreation and information. Your primary focus will be on providing core professional library services, including helping patrons, the public, and other users locate and effectively use library resources, tools and services. You will have an opportunity to act as a lead worker, overseeing activities of regular, temporary and volunteer library support staff within a major function area of the library.

 

Oak Lodge and Gladstone Libraries are a part of the Department of Transportation & Development (DTD) under Community Services. We are committed to providing direct public library services to the Oak Lodge and Gladstone communities within the LINCC consortium. We are searching for an individual, who is motivated to contribute to a team with a strong focus on quality library services, innovative outreach, programming, and who can demonstrate strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.

 

Required Minimum Qualifications/ Transferrable Skills:*

 

• Possession of a Master's degree in Library Science (MLS) or a Master's degree in Library Information Science (MLIS) from an ALA-accredited college or university

• Experience providing patron services in a public library setting

 

Preferred Special Qualifications/ Transferrable Skills:*

 

• Experience in collection development

• Experience using acquisitions with SirsiDynix Symphony Integrated Library System

• Reference experience in a public library

• Experience planning and providing programming

• Circulation experience in a public library

• Proficiency in a second language

 

Pre-Employment Requirements:

 

• Must be available to work evenings and weekends

• Must pass a criminal history check which may include national or state fingerprint records check

WORKING CONDITIONS

 

Duties require continuous walking/moving, standing for extended periods, frequent squatting, kneeling, bending, twisting, reaching forward and overhead, fine motor control, and ability to lift 35 pounds, lift and carry 20 pounds, overhead reach 5 pounds, and push/pull 20 pounds. Duties also involve exposure to dust and odors/fumes including strong perfumes.

 

WORK SCHEDULE

 

This position works 40 hours during a standard workweek of Tuesday through Saturday with evening hours. Specific hours of work will be discussed with the candidate selected for this position at the time an offer of employment is extended.

 

Please Note: This position is designated as on-site/in-person. It is expected that the selected candidate will perform duties at the specified on-site work location.
