This is a Student Internship position under the Pathways Internship Program.

To qualify for this internship, you must be a continuing student enrolled or accepted for enrollment for the upcoming semester for the duration of the internship as a condition of employment (taking at least a "half time" course load). You will be required to provide documentation (transcript, enrollment certification, etc.) to support eligibility. Students may be employed throughout the academic year.

This is a developmental position in FHWA - the position is designed to provide interns with challenging assignments that will broaden their perspectives on issues facing the government and prepare them for future positions throughout the government.

The Program Analyst Pathways Student Intern will assist higher graded staff in collecting, sorting, and organizing information for evaluating Standard Operating Procedures and processes.

The selectee will:

  • Learn about FHWA work and assist our operations, planning, finance, environmental, and civil rights teams with accomplishing tasks/assignments. 
  • Support Division staff who monitor Federal-aid projects to ensure that projects are developed in accordance with Federal laws, regulations and policies, and that projects are constructed in accordance with plans and specifications.
  • Participate with transportation engineers in performing engineering reviews and construction inspections.
  • Participate in initiatives/activities as required by the Division Performance Plan to implement programs, products, processes, or technologies that contribute to the achievement of Division goals.
  • Assist in screening, purging, and sending records to the Record Center.  This includes scanning and converting hard copy records to electronic format.

The ideal candidate possesses basic to intermediate knowledge in Microsoft Office Products, good written and verbal communication skills, inquisitive and has a positive attitude, and willingness to learn and independently accomplish assigned work and tasks.
