Essential Functions

The Graduate Assistant (GA) will report directly to the Principal Investigator (PI) of the First-Year Experience in the Colleges Grant. This grant aims to develop and evaluate the effectiveness of first-year transition courses at the University of Nebraska Omaha (UNO). The two-year grant began in the summer of 2024 and will conclude in the summer of 2026. The project builds on research from the Thompson Learning Community at UNO and fosters strategic collaboration among various support networks at the university.

 

The GA will support the grant with a variety of tasks, including website management, branding initiatives, documentation coordination, and the creation of promotional materials. This position requires a commitment of 20 hours per week in person.


Key Responsibilities

 

  • Coordinate documentation and support other administrative tasks as needed.
  • Support mentor training and campus instructor training initiatives.
  • Assist in organizing events for the First-Year Network.
  • Contribute to branding initiatives and the creation of promotional materials.
  • Develop and maintain the project website.

There is an opportunity for re-appointment for the second year of the grant.

Work Schedule

20 hours/week in-person

Additional Duties

 

Required Qualifications

  • Must be admitted and enrolled in a UNO graduate degree program with UNO. Maintain good academic standing with a minimum of 3.00 GPA within the program. Must be at least 18 years of age. Proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, and a desire to work with new software.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to interact with all levels of people professionally and courteously.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Experience with website development and management.
  • Experience with document management systems and shared drives.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

Salary

1708.17 (20,498) per year - 12 month Assistantship
