Research and Marketing Assistant

UNHInnovation Research and Marketing Assistant  

Summary of Position 

This is an hourly position, without benefits, at the UNHInnovation (UNHI). UNHInnovation enables, leverages, and accelerates ideas at UNH through partnerships and the support of new enterprises. We maximize the social and economic benefits of UNH talent, research, and resources for our state and beyond. Our units support the commercialization of UNH intellectual property through internal licensing or support for Venture Studio clients, and corporate engagement partnerships with external companies.

Research and Marketing Assistant  

This is a part-time hourly position at UNHI. This entry-level position will report to the UNHI Marketing Director, with onboarding training and ongoing mentorship from the Director of Corporate Engagement. The Research and Marketing Assistant will assist in company research and profile development, marketing lead generation, market analysis, support upkeep of Salesforce records and campaigns, and other related tasks.  

 

Research and Marketing Assistant will be expected to: 

1. Support Marketing Director on work for Technology Transfer and Venture Studio: 

Lead Generation Research and Marketing for Patents and Intellectual Property (IP) 

Conduct research to identify potential licensees and commercial partners for patents and technologies. 

Compile and maintain a database of prospective companies and contacts interested in licensing opportunities. 

Analyze market trends and industry sectors to identify high-potential leads for technology commercialization. 

May assist in preparing non-confidential summaries and marketing emails for patents and technologies. 

2. Support for Corporate Engagement: 

Company Profiles Development: 

Gather detailed information on companies, including financials, staffing, strategic initiatives, and innovation focus. 

Develop comprehensive profiles for companies for internal use, highlighting key areas of interest and potential collaboration opportunities. 

Identify key decision-makers and contacts within target companies. 

Help keep records of engagement activities with company. 

Help with Salesforce updating and data management. 

  

Market Analysis: 

Conduct competitive landscape analysis to understand market conditions and industry trends. 

Provide insights into market needs and opportunities to support corporate engagement strategies. 

Assist in the preparation of reports and presentations summarizing findings and strategic recommendations. 

 

Acceptable Minimum Qualifications 

Currently enrolled at the University of New Hampshire 

Available to work 12-15 hours in semester and 40 hours/week (Mon-Fri, 8AM-5PM) outside of semester, excepting UNH holidays and closures.  

Pass a pre-employment background check 

Excellent verbal and written communication skills 

A willingness to learn new skills and ask questions 

Consistency and reliability in meeting tasks  

Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively 

Ability to become familiar with multiple clients and subject areas within UNHI’s scope of work, e.g. Venture Studio clients, UNHI IP portfolio, companies we work with, etc.  
 

Additional Desirable Qualifications 

Experience with market analysis 

Experience with Salesforce CRM 

Experience working with Salesforce or similar CRM 

Experience using AI tools, including verifying information  

Experience using UNH library research databases such as PitchBook, Reference Solutions, etc. 

 

Salary Information 

The starting rate for UNHInnovation Research and Marketing Assistant is $12-15 an hour depending on relevant experience.
