This is an indefinite, Excepted Service appointment that may continue if you continue to meet the eligibility requirements under the Pathways Internship program and funding is available.
Interns may be eligible for non-competitive conversion to permanent employment.
DUTIES:
As a Student Trainee (Recreation Fee Technician), you will perform the following duties:
Serves as a front-line, uniformed representative of the NPS, answering visitor questions and explaining the area's recreational opportunities, including NPS interpretive services, campground availability, hiking trails, etc.
Performs assignments in accordance with all NPS and U.S. Treasury regulations governing the handling of government funds.
Assists higher-level personnel with auditing fee collection program components/systems (e.g. cash registers, road/trail registers, honor systems, automated fee machines or AFMs, donation boxes, etc.).
Assists in completing audit paperwork and documenting findings.
Prepares and completes remittance reports and bank deposits for funds donated and/or collected by others.
Reviews shift reports and count funds collected.
Investigates and proactively resolves routine or recurring discrepancies, and track overages, shortages, and errors.
Inventories and/or restocks fee program supplies and assist with placing orders and preparing requisition requests for equipment/supplies as needed.
