Catalyzing Communities Research Assistant Position
Catalyzing Communities is an innovative research-based approach to reducing disparities, decreasing obesity, and improving health in communities around the country. We work with stakeholders at all levels to catalyze and sustain a systematic, and holistic effort to improve the health and well-being of all children—now and for the rest of their lives.

Position Description
Catalyzing Communities, an initiative of ChildObesity180 based at the Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy at Tufts University, plans to onboard one research assistant with experience in qualitative data analysis to support the project through February 2025, with an option to continue depending on need and funding. The Research Assistant will provide support with quantitative data analysis of interviews conducted with research participants from several communities. The RA will interface with all project staff and work closely with Drs. Travis R. Moore and Larissa Calancie. The expected time commitment is 10-15 hours a week.

The position can be remote or in-person. Hours can be somewhat flexible, but the candidate needs to be available for meetings within a typical workday. 

Qualitative analysis: Our research team has engaged over 100 stakeholders from 8 communities across the US to investigate the systems driving childhood obesity in their communities and work together to shift those systems to promote childhood health.  We conducted two interviews with each stakeholder, asking what they think is most likely to prevent childhood obesity in their communities among other questions before and after they worked with us. Specific tasks related to qualitative analysis may include:

• Developing a codebook
• Coding interviews using qualitative analysis software
• Participating in meetings with the project team to develop the codebook, discuss progress, and share initial results. 
• Writing a report summarizing the findings.  There is a possibility of co-authoring a manuscript related to this project. 
• Working closely with Dr. Moore to advance the work

• Qualitative analysis experience

Compensation range: $22-25
