Hospital Operations Summer Internship Program 

LIJ Valley Stream 2025 

Dates: June 19th – August 1st, 2025 

Summary: 

As a rising sophomore or junior in college, the time is now to bring focus to your career path and develop the essential skills that will help you succeed after you graduate. If you have a strong interest in healthcare, this may be the internship for you. Over the span of this 8-week, paid summer internship, you will have the opportunity to rotate through a variety of departments including, but not limited to: Financial Operations, Perioperative Services, Patient and Family Experience, Imaging/Radiology, Nursing, Materials Operations, Advanced Care Practitioners and Emergency Physicians. 

Eligibility: 

We are committed to creating an inclusive environment where everyone’s perspective is valued. The LIJVS Hospital Operations Internship program is designed to attract high-achieving, traditionally underrepresented candidates from the surrounding community. 

In order to apply you must be: 

  • Entering the next collegiate year as a first year, sophomore or a junior 
  • U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident 
  • Overall GPA of 3.0 or higher 
  • Available for the entire duration of the 8-Week internship 

Your application should include a 2–4-page essay that addresses the following topics: 

  • Your past and present academic and personal experiences that have prepared you for this internship?
  • What you hope to accomplish through an internship at LIJ Valley Stream and how it relates to your academic and career goals?
  • What about healthcare interests you and leads you to apply for this internship?

In addition to your essay, you must provide the following: 

  • The attached questionnaire 
  • An official transcript from your current institution 
  • Resume/CV 
  • At least (2) character reference letters (written by individuals outside of your immediate family)
