Launch Intern

June - August 2019 • Iselin, NJ

What I liked

I loved the work environment that EY had provided to me. Everyone was incredibly hard working and driven, but were also very team-oriented. The employees were always were supportive and pushed me to be the best worker I could be!

What I wish was different

The one thing that I wish had been different about the internship was the length of the internship. The launch program was six weeks long, but I wish it were 8+ weeks long so that I could learn more about what it meant to work at EY.

Advice

Don't be afraid to ask questions. Employers don't expect you to know everything about everything, but they do want you to be open minded and always ambitious to learn more. This is a very important quality to have and it will allow you to thrive in the future.

Audit Intern

June - August 2019 • Philadelphia, PA

What I liked

I worked with a great team, the intern events were nice and fun. I also liked the location of the office and the places close to it. The EY badges program is unique and a great way to learn about an area of interest that will be disruptive in the future. I loved how they accommodated the fact that I didn't have a driver's license when I was interning. They gave me an easy commute which made things simpler for me. The audit work wasn't hard either. It was a lot of ticking and tying out audit evidence, control forms filling, test of controls, a bit of testing accounts and setting up exhibits.

What I wish was different

I would have liked to explore different industries while I was interning but that was mainly because I didn't have a drive's license. I would have been at least 2 or 3 different engagements otherwise. I also wanted to get to know my peer advisor more but we didn't get the chance to sit down and have lunch. I was also hoping that our audit training would be more interesting.

Advice

Definitely ask questions of your team about the most efficient way to go about work, best practices and what it takes to succeed at the firm. Try to find out what their interest are so that you can make a connection with your team because it makes you feel better about going to work.

Public Accounting Intern

June - August 2019 • San Jose, CA

What I liked

It was great to get real world public accounting experience. I had no idea what I would be doing in my career after college, but being an intern gave me an idea of what to expect.

What I wish was different

I do wish there was more structure and guidance. Often, I would be thrown into an audit engagement and would have to depend on my audit team to teach me. Depending on the team I was paired with, I could learn a lot or hardly anything.

Advice

I would let anyone who is interested in interning with a public accounting firm know that they should act enthusiastic throughout the experience. The firm expects you to not know anything when you enter, so they depend on you to be willing to learn.

What I liked

I loved the work I did, the people I worked with, and the clients I worked on. They also sent us to Orlando, Florida for a week for a conference and we got to go to Disneyworld.

What I wish was different

There was quite a bit of down time where they didn't have anything for the interns to do so there were times where I didn't have anything to do.

Advice

Always have a positive attitude, always be willing to stay late if they need you, always be willing to learn and ask questions.

FSO Assurance Summer Intern

June - August 2019 • New York City, NY

What I liked

EY really made this internship experience memorable! Not only was everyone I encountered super friendly and willing to answer any questions I had, but EY also hosted a lot of networking events to allow me to network and meet many people in the company. The one week training program was very beneficial in getting me familiar with what kind of work I would be doing on a day to day basis and, once assigned to a team, my team was very helpful in walking me through the audit process so that I understood why I was assigned specific tasks.

What I wish was different

Advice

I would say definitely ask any questions you have and don't be afraid to reach out to anyone in the company to get to know them and what brought them to EY! Just be yourself!!

Financial Assurance Intern

June - August 2019 • Stamford, CT

What I liked

I learned more in this internship than any other one I have experienced. My team worked directly with me often and wanted to teach me. Through their teaching and also through them assigning me value adding, challenging work, I immensely improved not only my excel skills and auditing knowledge, but also improved my confidence in a working environment.

Auditing Intern

June - August 2019 • Boston, MA

What I liked

The teams that I worked with were excellent and I was fortunate enough to receive the work of an associate in busy season during the summer as I got to work with a project team.

What I wish was different

Nothing! I had a great experience with EY this summer.

Advice

I would recommend that you keep yourself busy at this job during the summer as an intern. If you don't currently have something to work on, make sure you are asking around and finding something because there is never a time when there is absolutely nothing you can do.
