Accounting Clerk
The Senate is seeking to fill the position of Accounting Clerk for the Accounting Services Office.
Job Summary:
Identifies, inputs, verifies, and communicates financial information including assets, liabilities, income, and expenditures. Duties may include: data entry input for payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable. Provides support to the Comptroller, Accountant, and Accounting Specialist for the Senate and other assigned legislative agencies.
EXAMPLES OF WORK:
1. Provides data entry support for payroll and accounts payable for the Senate and other assigned legislative agencies.
2. Collects, sorts, and distributes mail.
3. Answers telephone and uses judgment and discretion in answering questions from general public, staff, legislative assistants, and Senators.
4. Gathers, organizes, duplicates, and prepares Interim Per Diem forms for payment.
5. Organizes and maintains accounting files for the Senate and other assigned legislative agencies.
6. Assists external auditor by gathering documents and other needed information for the Senate and other assigned legislative agencies.
7. Gathers, organizes, and duplicates information needed for public records requests.
8. Performs other duties as assigned.
In order to be considered for the position you must meet the following academic/experience criteria:
•High school graduation plus two years of experience in clerical work, preferably in governmental or accounting work, or both.
Substitutions available:
1. Full-time training in clerical, business, or office administration in a vocational-technical school or business school plus one year of experience in clerical work.
2. A certificate of completion of a two-year clerical, business, or office administration curriculum from an accredited college or university.
