Position: Field Placement Coordinator 

Location: SUNY Cortland, Cortland, N.Y.

Salary: $47,950 - $51,900

Position Summary 

Are you passionate about supporting education and building strong partnerships with schools and clinical sites? SUNY Cortland is seeking a Field Placement Coordinator to coordinate all field or clinical placements and associated program services for all graduate programs in the School of Education, School of Arts and Sciences and the School of Professional Studies. This position has a 10-month obligation from 8/15 to 6/15 annually.

Major Responsibilities

Graduate Teacher Education Program Coordination

  • Coordinate and confirm all external placements for graduate programs, including early field experiences, student teaching, internships, and clinical rotations.
  • Collaborate with Program Student Teacher Coordinators to support student teaching placements.
  • Serve as a liaison between the Field Experience and School Partnerships (FESP) Office, graduate program coordinators, and field supervisors to facilitate student placements.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders (faculty, Dean’s offices, FESP) and external partners (school administrators, clinical site coordinators).
  • Support FESP efforts to meet accreditation standards through effective placement coordination.
  • Assist with orientation and placement meetings for teacher and internship candidates.
  • Maintain and update the field experiences database each semester to track placement details, including hours logged, student records, confirmations, and cancellations.

Affiliation and Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) Coordination

  • Act as a liaison for programs requiring affiliation agreements (AAs) for clinical placements and MOUs for teacher education placements.
  • Communicate with program coordinators to confirm placement sites and ensure agreements are in place for required dates and locations.
  • Review and process AAs and MOUs for accuracy, coordinating with SUNY Legal and host sites as needed.
  • Track agreement approval status and notify programs upon completion.
  • Ensure issuance of Certificates of Insurance (COIs) for clinical placements.
  • Serve as a resource for departments and the FESP Office regarding AAs and MOUs.
  • Maintain a comprehensive database of clinical placement sites, including agreement expiration dates and associated departments and majors.

Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree; Minimum of three years of professional experience; and, Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel

Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree; Experience in P-12 schools, higher education, or clinical settings; and, Familiarity with systems like Banner, Brightspace, Argos, or Watermark
