Undergraduate Research Assistant- Professor J. Leigh Garcia , School of Art, Papermaking

Searching for an undergraduate student who can dedicate 4-6 hours per week helping to:

1. harvest plants for papermaking

2. clean and cook these plants

3. beat them (either in a papermaking beater or by hand)

4. pull sheets of paper with this fiber

No prior knowledge or skill with papermaking is necessary. However, students who have experience making or handling artwork will be preferred. This position will require you to meet with the researching professor in various locations throughout Knoxville to harvest plants, but most activities will take place in the Art + Architecture building on campus.
