Job Description: NEMT Driver / Transportation Specialist (Part-Time)

The Opportunity

 

We are seeking a dependable and professional NEMT Driver / Transportation Specialist to ensure our clients get to and from their medical appointments and essential destinations safely, comfortably, and on time. This is a crucial, client-facing role for individuals committed to safety and excellent patient-centered customer service.

 

Expected Responsibilities

 

Provide door-to-door transportation for clients, including seniors, dialysis patients, and individuals with varied mobility needs, treating every passenger with dignity and respect.

Safe Patient Transfer Assistance: Safely assist passengers entering and exiting the vehicle. This includes basic assistance with canes, walkers, and personal items, following all relevant protocols.

Mobility Device Securement: Properly and safely secure wheelchairs and other mobility devices using required restraints and equipment before starting the trip.

Maintain open and clear communication with dispatch/CEO regarding schedules, delays, and necessary updates, prioritizing on-time appointment arrivals.

Maintain the vehicle's cleanliness and immediately report any maintenance or safety needs to management.

Adhere strictly to HIPAA and client confidentiality guidelines during all trips and communications.

 

Minimum Requirements & Essential Skills

 

Valid Driver’s License and Clean Driving Record (Required for insurance and NEMT operations).

NEMT Experience/Training Preferred: Prior experience in patient transport, or demonstrated willingness to complete training in passenger assistance and wheelchair securement.

Exceptional Punctuality and Reliability: Essential for meeting non-negotiable medical appointment times.

Patient-Centered Communication: Courteous, professional, and empathetic communication skills required for interacting with elderly or medically vulnerable clients and their caregivers.

Physical Ability: Must be physically capable of assisting passengers (safely lifting/guiding up to 50 lbs) and operating wheelchair securement equipment.

Clearance: Must pass a comprehensive criminal background check and drug screening (standard for NEMT roles).
