Job Title: Lifeguard (Part Time)

Location:  Ensworth Swim School – Nashville, TN

Job Type:  Part-Time Only

Job Summary:
Ensworth Swim School is hiring responsible, alert, and team-oriented part-time Lifeguards to support our swim programs and ensure a safe and welcoming environment for all swimmers, families, and staff. Lifeguards at Ensworth are employed directly by Ensworth Swim School and play a critical role in our commitment to safety and excellence in aquatics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain constant visual surveillance of the pool and surrounding area
  • Enforce all pool rules in a consistent and professional manner
  • Respond promptly and effectively to all water and medical emergencies
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety of the pool deck and equipment
  • Communicate clearly with swimmers, coaches, and families
  • Attend in-service trainings and maintain required certifications

Requirements:

  • Must hold a current Lifeguard Certification from a nationally recognized program (e.g., Red Cross, YMCA)
  • Certification must include CPR, First Aid, and AED, which are typically built into the course
  • Strong observation and communication skills
  • Ability to remain calm and take decisive action in emergency situations
  • Prior experience is a plus, but not required

Schedule & Hours:

  • Part-time only; shifts available:
  • Weekday mornings, afternoons, and evenings
  • Weekend availability is required
  • Flexible scheduling based on Ensworth Natatorium programming schedule, swim meets, and special events.

Compensation:
Pay is based on school status (e.g., high school, college) and previous lifeguard experience. Range is $13 per hour to $20 per hour based on an education and experience scale.
