Who we are
Watershed Therapeutics is a bladder health startup, on a mission to dramatically improve the lives of patients suffering from chronic diseases such as recurrent urinary tract infections and bladder cancer. We have developed a best-in-class therapy for a large clinical problem affecting over a million women in the U.S. That project has grown to multiple pipelines for new patient populations, including those affected by bladder cancer, based on our novel drug delivery platform which can deliver multiple agents into the human urinary bladder.
Job Description
We are seeking a motivated engineer with a strong foundation in mechanical and materials engineering to join our team. This role will report directly to the CTO and will be instrumental in supporting manufacturing process development, troubleshooting, and the execution of critical experiments that advance our pre-clinical and clinical programs.
The ideal candidate will bring hands-on expertise in materials science, mechanical testing, and device prototyping, with the curiosity and creativity to solve complex problems in a dynamic start-up environment. Integrity, adaptability, and a collaborative mindset are essential for thriving in our cross-functional team.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in developing and optimizing formulation processes to produce drug-product test batches.
- Design, prototype, and refine tools and systems to scale and automate internal testing and manufacturing workflows.
- Support experiment planning, execution, data analysis, and reporting to evaluate process performance.
- Maintain clear, accurate, and compliant laboratory records in alignment with regulatory, quality, and IP requirements.
- Collaborate closely with formulation scientists, engineers, and project teams to ensure alignment with product development milestones
Qualifications
Core Requirements
- Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on skillset in prototyping, fabricating, building, or process development.
- Experience with in polymer synthesis, formulations for small molecule/protein drug delivery
Education & Experience
- AS in a STEM field with minimum 3 years of biopharma or medical device industry experience OR
- BS or MS in Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering, or Materials Science with 2+ years of R&D experience
Additional Considerations
- Experience with analytical chemistry techniques and instrumentation.
- Certifications in medical or technical fields (e.g., CAD).
- Portfolio of past projects showcasing design/build capabilities.
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent communication and meticulous attention to detail in both execution and documentation.
