School Nurse Substitute
Position: School Nurse Substitute
Location: Milford School District
Reports To: Principal/Supervisor of Student Services
Starting Date: As mutually agreed upon and as needed

Performance Responsibilities for Substitute Nurse:
- Manages the school nurse office and attends to all medical needs of students including administering medication, responding to emergencies, and routine assessment of student well-being.
- Observes students on a regular basis to detect health needs.
- Maintains up-to-date cumulative health records on all students to provide to the nurse upon return.
- Assumes authority, in the absence of a physician or state/local emergency health personnel, for the care of a student or staff member who has suffered an injury or emergency illness while on school district property.
- Administers first aid in accordance with established first aid procedures.
- Makes recommendations to medical personnel on the health needs of individual students.
- Participates in professional growth opportunities and maintains required licenses and certifications.
- Assists school personnel in maintaining sanitary standards in schools.
- Accompany students on field trips as needed to monitor safety and health of students; administer medications.
- Other duties may be assigned within the scope of services provided by medical professionals.
- Support implementation of all school health and safety protocols.
Terms of Employment: Substitute; at-will
Salary and Benefits: Substitute nurses will be compensated $250.00 per day.
