JOB DESCRIPTION: The Pastor over Worship will give leadership, oversight and development to our worship ministries at Midway. He will oversee the worship and music ministry under the direction of the Teaching Pastor.
QUALIFICATIONS
- A devoted follower of Jesus Christ.
- Meet the qualifications of 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1.
- Committed to Midway’s Articles of Faith, doctrine and Mission of making fully devoted followers of Christ who reflect both His character and His priorities, to its Core Biblical Values (Love God, Love Each Other, Love the Church and Love the World) and to its Statement of Faith.)
- Demonstrates a love for worship and music within the local church environment.
- Spiritually mature with good people skills – music/worship can be a challenging area within the church therefore both of these qualities are of great importance.
- Experience leading worship teams or serving as a worship leader in a church setting. A degree in music, worship, pastoral ministry, or a related field is preferred.
- Bring ideas from his experience of other ways/methods of leading worship.
- A heart for the worship of the local church, not merely knowledgeable in music.
- A musician familiar with a variety of worship genres, able to play a "lead" instrument (acoustic guitar or keyboard) or be a lead singer.
- Familiarity with worship technology, including soundboards, projection software, and live streaming.
- Leadership style – Exhibits a respectful and approachable leadership style that fosters teamwork and engagement. Someone whom people can follow easily. Easy personality to connect with.
- Shows confidence in making decisions and an ability to work independently.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Primary (50-75% of the time)
- Coordinate music for Sunday Worship services, plus additional services - lead worship (able to integrate scripture and meaningful commentary into worship experience)
- Help with other ministry worship teams.
- Youth Ministries, Kid’s Ministries, Week long Soccer Camp, Etc.
- Work with the other pastors on a weekly basis.
- Coordinate/lead:
- Practice schedules and work with Worship Team and Tech Team
- Schedule personnel and handle absences/substitutions as needed
- Introduce new music and worship ideas
- Oversee the audio/visual portion of the service.
- Examples: Slides, live stream, cameras, sound board, weddings, funerals, etc.
- Work with recruiting, training and equipping of worship/tech team members.
- Reports to the Elder Board with direct accountability to the Teaching Pastor.
- Additionally:
- Attend staff meetings and monthly Church Board meetings whenever necessary.
- Attend annual events, do regular reading, research websites, etc. to enhance ministry skills and creativity.
- Be willing to implement innovative ideas into our worship/music ministries.
Secondary (25%-50% of time)
- Preach and conduct other pastoral responsibilities in the absence of or at the request of the Teaching Pastor.
- Secondary Ministry Oversight
- Options will be considered based on the person’s strengths, gifts and experience and could include, but not limited to, ministries along the lines of the following:
- Evangelistic outreach
- Adult ministry oversight
- Youth Ministry
- Visitation
- Children’s Ministry
- Social Media
