Benefits Intern

Wharton-Smith, Inc., a highly regarded general contractor, is seeking an intern to join our Benefits team and support our Human Resource department. If you are detail oriented and looking for a long-term internship opportunity with a growing organization, we want to hear from you!  

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Schedule and track HEP B vaccinations and declinations
  • Update employee information and maintain accuracy and documentation of employee database and files including address changes and returned mail 
  • Assist with administration of wellness program updates and expense tracking
  • Shipping/Distribution of benefits, employee recognition and wellness materials 
  • Assist with annual open enrollment and enrollment follow up
  • Other Benefit duties as needed including updating company intranet, benefit reimbursement requests, and report reconciliations

Technical Skills:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, Outlook, TEAMS
  • HRIS or other database system experience (Dayforce preferred)
  • Office 365/SharePoint experience helpful

Requirements:

  • Must have HS diploma
  • Some college preferred
  • Must have 1-3 years’ experience in an office/clerical role, payroll or accounting experience preferred

Qualifications:

  • Must be self-motivated, organized, detail oriented, able to perform repetitive routine tasks, and adhere to deadlines
  • Ability to identify, calculate and reconcile discrepancies
  • Able to take direction, follow procedure and ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations including ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, and ERISA
  • Should exhibit professionalism and be able to act with integrity as well as maintain confidentiality while working as a part of the HR team
  • Prior Payroll or HR experience and knowledge helpful
