Victor Association of Cultural and Performing Arts AKA Cobblestone Arts Center is a not-for-profit organization committed to providing compassionate care and support to adults with disabilities. Our goal is to help individuals achieve greater independence, enhance their quality of life, and foster a sense of community. We are looking for a dedicated part-time (20 hours per week) Day Hab Driver to join our team and contribute to the well-being of our participants. We can offer either a split shift with driving in the mornings, then again in the afternoons, or there is the option to stay through for the entire day.

Job Title: Day Hab Driver
Program: Day Hab / Transportation
Location: Farmington / Victor, NY – This position may be driving to various counties in our 5-county service area.
Status: Regular, Part-time, starting at 20 hours per week
Salary Range: $19.00 per hour
Reports to: Day Hab Transportation Director
Positions Supervised: Not applicable
Minimum Education & Experience: High School Diploma or GED is required. No prior experience with this population is required, but patience, courtesy, and compassion are a plus.
Minimum Qualification: You must have a valid license to operate a motor vehicle in New York State. You will be required to maintain a valid driver's license throughout your employment as a Day Hab Driver.
The Day Hab Driver will be responsible for providing transportation to and from classes for Day Hab students. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to improving the lives of individuals with disabilities and a compassionate approach to care.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):
- Knowledge of area roads and routes is helpful.
- A pleasant demeanor is required.
- Must be comfortable working with individuals with physical and mental disabilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Compassionate, patient, and respectful of others' dignity and independence.
- Ability to handle physical tasks, including lifting and transferring participants.
- Ability to learn CPR and First Aid. Training will be provided.
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of individuals with disabilities.
- Ability to multitask.
- Attention to detail is needed for proper record keeping.
- Advises supervisor immediately of any obstacles to completing required tasks.
- Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion and ability to deal with the public in a professional and courteous manner.
Physical Abilities:
- Ability to safely lift, move, and transfer 50 lbs. or more, requiring core strength for support and movement.
- Good vision (close, distance, color, peripheral) and hearing to understand participants and observe details.
- The position involves frequent sitting, standing, and walking. Occasional bending and pushing may be required. Tasks such as kneeling, squatting, reaching, twisting, balancing, climbing, and pulling are required infrequently.
Responsibilities:
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Drive a Cobblestone vehicle to pick up Day Hab students, bring them to class, and then return them home at the end of the day. Route as assigned.
- Must complete all training required by OPWDD & agency.
- Must be aware of student safeguards, supervision levels & appropriate protocols.
- Complete daily transport log located in the vehicle.
- Maintain a clean vehicle.
- Report a vehicle or student- related issues immediately to the supervisor.
