Finance Assistant

JOB SUMMARY
The Finance Assistant will provide accounting and logistical support for the Finance Team.

GOALS
This job exists to:

  • Handle US staff credit card administration
  • Administer accounts payable, using accurate, efficient accounting practices and record keeping
  • Utilize financial systems
  • Support accounts receivable
  • Assist in other financial tasks

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Handle US staff credit card administration

  • Order initial or replacement credit cards
  • Send and audit staff expense reports
  • Complete journal entries for credit card related expenses
  • Dispute or follow-up on unauthorized charges

2. Administer accounts payable, using accurate, efficient accounting practices and record keeping

  • Pay invoices and staff reimbursements by printing/disbursing checks, wire transfers, or ACH transfers in a timely manner
  • Reconcile bank statements to internal accounting records
  • Run specific General Ledger reports monthly to ensure accounting is accurate, balanced, and reconciled

3. Utilize financial systems

  • Create campaigns and projects in Salesforce, collaborating with other departments
  • Build reports and support site management of Salesforce, giving platforms, and accounting systems

4. Support accounts receivables

  • Process mail and deposits daily
  • Monitor and review donations from giving platforms
  • Process donations in Salesforce and generate receipt/thank you letters
  • Generate accurate financial/donor reports

5. Assist in other financial tasks

  • Take deposits to the bank
  • Serve as a member on the Finance Council
  • Audit international staff expense reports periodically
  • Other relevant duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be a committed follower of Jesus Christ and an active member of a Christian church
  • Passion for the mission and work of Global Disciples and alignment with its statement of faith, goals, purposes, and objectives
  • Exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to multitask, maintain a precise attention to detail, and meet deadlines
  • Adaptable
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills and database management software experience is essential
  • Team player
  • Analytical and critical thinking skills that assist in swift troubleshooting when issues arise
  • Accounting background preferred, with capacity to spot errors in patterns
  • Salesforce, Convera, Accounting Seed, FundraiseUp experience preferred
  • Strong communication skills, and ability to collaborate with other teams, as needed
