Position Title: Chair Yoga Instructor
Location: Oakmont Rec Center, 3200 Jermantown Road, Oakton, VA 22124
Hours: 1-19 hours per week; varied schedule to include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Salary: Starting at $29.09 per hour, depending on experience and certifications.
Overview:
Oakmont Rec Center is seeking a compassionate and knowledgeable Chair Yoga Fitness Instructor to lead accessible, low-impact chair-based yoga classes designed to improve mobility, flexibility, balance, and overall well-being.
Duties:
- This role focuses on teaching modified yoga poses and mindful movement using a chair for support, making the practice inclusive for individuals with limited mobility, balance challenges, or those who prefer a gentler approach to exercise.
- The instructor will be responsible for creating thoughtful and safe class plans, demonstrating proper technique, and offering individualized modifications to support a wide range of abilities.
- Ideal candidates will have experience in adaptive or chair-based yoga instruction, strong communication skills, and a commitment to fostering a supportive, confidence-building environment for participants of all backgrounds and fitness levels.
- All other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be 18 years of age.
- Current Chair Yoga Certification that meets Standard Operating Policy criteria.
- Current CPR and first aid certification, or ability to obtain within 60 days of employment.
- Complete a criminal background check.
- Complete all mandatory county trainings.
- Ability to engage in physical activity.
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects.
