Position Summary
The Proposal Writer Intern will support the Capture, Strategy, and Business Development teams in preparing competitive responses to Requests for Proposals (RFPs), Requests for Information (RFIs), and grant opportunities across government, higher education, and nonprofit sectors.
This internship provides hands-on experience in government contracting, structured proposal development, compliance review, and persuasive technical writing. Participants will gain practical exposure to federal, state, and institutional procurement processes while developing strong professional writing and analytical skills.
The program prepares candidates for careers in proposal management, grant writing, capture management, public-sector consulting, and business development.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in drafting proposal sections including executive summaries, company qualifications, technical approaches, and past performance narratives.
- Analyze RFP/RFI requirements and develop compliance matrices to ensure complete and accurate responses.
- Support the development of structured outlines and response frameworks aligned with evaluation criteria.
- Conduct background research to strengthen proposal narratives with data, industry insights, and policy references.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to translate technical concepts into clear, persuasive language.
- Review and edit proposal drafts for clarity, grammar, tone, and consistency.
- Help prepare capability statements, one-pagers, and supporting documentation for outreach efforts.
- Assist in formatting and organizing submission packages to meet procurement guidelines and deadlines.
- Maintain proposal templates, boilerplates, and content libraries for future reuse.

Qualifications
- Current student or recent graduate in English, Communications, Public Policy, Business Administration, Political Science, Journalism, or related field.
- Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
- Ability to interpret detailed requirements and follow structured instructions.
- Excellent research and organizational skills.
- Strong attention to detail and deadline management.
- Interest in government contracting, grants, public-sector innovation, or institutional strategy.
- Comfortable collaborating with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
