Research Lead & Academic Mentor (Master’s/PhD/Post-doc) – Remote
Job description
Role Overview:
A Learning Lab is seeking subject matter experts (Master’s, PhD candidates, and Post-doctoral researchers) to serve as Academic Mentors for our elite Primary Research Track.
In this role, you will act as the "Principal Investigator" for ambitious high school students, guiding them through the execution of original, publication-quality research. This is not a tutoring gig; it is a high-level mentorship designed for scholars who want to cultivate their leadership, teaching, and project management skills while supporting the next generation of researchers.
Key Responsibilities:
• Research Design: Guide students in narrowing a broad interest into a specific, viable, and rigorous research question.
• Methodological Supervision: Oversee data collection (qualitative or quantitative) and ensure the student maintains academic integrity and scientific rigor.
• Manuscript Development: Provide expert feedback on drafts, teaching the nuances of academic voice, citations, and structure.
• Submission Strategy: Help students identify and prepare their work for submission to peer-reviewed journals or international research competitions.
Qualifications (Strict Requirement):
• Education: Must be currently enrolled in or a graduate of a Master’s, PhD, or Post-doctoral program. (Undergraduate applicants will not be considered).
• Research Record: Demonstrated experience in conducting original research and a deep understanding of your field’s methodology.
• Mentorship Ability: A passion for teaching and the ability to break down complex academic concepts for a high-achieving high school audience.
• Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Program Logistics:
• 100% Remote: Conduct all mentorship sessions via Zoom/Google Meet.
• Global Hiring: As this is a fully online role, we welcome applicants regardless of location.
• Flexibility: Manage your own schedule and number of mentees.
• Compensation: Competitive and discussable during the interview process.
