Buyside Intern

Buyside Intern / Deal Manager Track
10 hrs/week | Remote | Paid & Unpaid Tracks | M&A + Company-Building Training

Company Overview
Kintarra is a California-based managed IT services and sustainable-technology platform, providing full-lifecycle IT services including managed support, IT asset management, secure data destruction, and certified IT asset disposition (ITAD). We're building a scalable platform in the fragmented MSP, ITAD, and sustainable-technology market.

Kintarra is part of a larger investment and company-building group that acquires, grows, and supports founder-led businesses across the lower-middle market, working across acquisitions, portfolio growth, capital advisory, and buy-side and sell-side execution.

This role is not limited to IT services. Interns support Kintarra's acquisition strategy while also helping the broader group source leads, qualify opportunities, run outreach, and support deal workflows across industries such as business services, industrial services, healthcare, software, distribution, manufacturing, and other founder-led sectors. You'll get broad exposure across multiple mandates, buyer profiles, and transaction situations, and support the full arc of a deal: owner outreach, seller qualification, investment memos, data rooms, diligence, and transaction readiness.

Internship Overview
This is a high-intensity training ground for future dealmakers and operators. Most students learn M&A through spreadsheets; here you'll learn it through conversations, founder psychology, live buyer-seller interactions, diligence workflows, and company-building, which is the human side, where many lower-middle-market deals are won or lost.

You'll learn how to:
1. Speak with business owners and executives across industries
2. Understand seller motivation, navigate objections, and assess buyer-seller fit
3. Think through valuation gaps, financing gaps, and transition concerns
4. Understand seller financing, earnouts, rollover equity, and reps & warranties
5. Turn conversations into call notes, deal summaries, investment memos, and data rooms
6. Support portfolio growth through outreach, market research, and competitive mapping
7. Build acquisition pipelines and think like both a buyer and an operator
8. Strong performers may take on more advanced work: valuation logic, structure mechanics, transaction sequencing, and live deal execution.

What You'll Do
1. Call business owners and executives, and run outreach across IT services and other founder-led industries
2. Source and qualify acquisition opportunities for Kintarra and the broader group
3. Build lead lists and acquisition pipelines across multiple sectors
4. Prepare call notes, next steps, and deal context
5. Evaluate seller motivation, buyer fit, and transaction readiness
6. Support investment memos, data rooms, and diligence materials
7. Assist with market research, sales support, competitive mapping, and operating projects
8. Participate in live buyer-seller execution
This is not a passive role. You'll learn through live reps, feedback, and real deliverables.

Deal Manager Track
Top performers may advance to the Deal Manager Track, helping to manage intern pipelines, support client and portfolio execution, coordinate deal and sourcing workflows across industries, and assist with internal acquisitions and new company launches. Deal Managers may participate in a revenue-share program on managed accounts. This track is for interns who communicate clearly, execute consistently, and operate under pressure.

Training & Exposure
Interns may get exposure to office hours, webinars, and training with leaders across the M&A and company-building ecosystem, including banking professionals structuring acquisition financing, investment bankers experienced in lower-middle-market transactions, and senior operators and former technology executives who train and prepare CEOs. Advanced interns may also receive leadership coaching and deeper exposure to transaction execution and portfolio operations.

Compensation & Growth
We offer multiple tracks based on role, experience, and performance, including paid hourly roles for qualified candidates and performance-based bonuses for strong outbound and sourcing performers. Deal Managers may be eligible for revenue share on managed accounts. We strongly prefer to hire full-time talent from this program and have converted interns to full-time before.

Ideal Candidates
1. Strong communicators and fast learners who want responsibility early
2. Future dealmakers who want to learn by doing, not observe
3. People comfortable operating inside ambiguity, speed, and pressure
4. Candidates who want real M&A exposure across both founder conversations and transaction execution
5. Ability to quickly learn new industries, business models, and buyer criteria
6. Interest in IT services, MSPs, ITAD, ESG, or founder-led companies is helpful but not required.
7. Fluent English required.

Why This Role
This internship is practical, intense, and execution-heavy. You'll learn how deals actually happen, including how owners think, how buyers evaluate opportunities, how pipelines are built, and how companies grow after a deal closes, with exposure across many sectors rather than one narrow industry. If you want live reps, real conversations, and company-building exposure inside a growing acquisition platform, this is a strong place to train.
