Scenic Production Manager

The Eau Claire Children’s Theatre is a non-profit, volunteer-driven community theatre providing quality theatrical and educational experiences for western Wisconsin residents of all ages. Founded in 1989, the Eau Claire Children’s Theatre is currently in its 31st Season of family entertainment. ECCT has four main areas of programming. 

+mainstage productions of major Broadway musicals
+school matinees of shows based on award-winning children’s literature
+touring productions
+summer theatre classes


Each season ECCT produces 16 shows along with a variety of special events, at two main venues- the 275 seat theatre, The Oxford, owned by ECCT and the Pablo Center at the Confluence the new 60+ million dollar arts center in Eau Claire with 2 theatres- the 1200 seat proscenium RCU Theatre and the 400 seat black box JAMF Theatre. With annual attendance of 32,000-35,000 patrons and an annual budget of $580,000, the Eau Claire Children’s Theatre is one of the largest community theatres in western Wisconsin. 
 
Currently our paid staffing consists of the following positions:

+ Executive Director
+ Associate Director
+ Scenic Production Manager
+ Technical Director
+ 2 Costumers
+ Costume Shop Manager
+ Promotions and Graphic Designer

In addition there are volunteer Crew Heads that assist in the areas of Hair and Makeup Design and Properties. Some of the shows coming up in the 2020-2021 Season include: Evil Dead, Arthur's Halloween, Elf the Musical, Frozen Jr., Twas the Night Before Christmas, Narnia, The rainbow Fish, The Sound of Music, Cabaret, Junie B. Jones, Disney's The Little Mermaid, Disney's The Hunchback of Notre Dame and Disney's Descendants.

EAU CLAIRE CHILDREN’S THEATRE, INC.

SCENIC PRODUCTION MANAGER

I.  POSITION OBJECTIVES: 
To provide superior technical expertise in the areas of Scenic Construction, Design and Painting and Rigging for all ECCT productions, rentals and special events while assisting with day to day facilities operations and additional theatre areas of lighting and sound as time and abilities allow.

II.  POSITION CHARACTERISTICS:

Recruited by:    Executive Director

Salary/Benefits:  Starting annual salary $28,000-$30,000, negotiable based on experience

Monthly health insurance and cell phone stipend provided

Paid vacations, holidays and sick days

 Schedule:     Full time salaried position- 40-50 hours weekly; schedule will flex between          daytime, evening and weekend hours depending on ECCT production schedule


III.  POSITION RELATIONSHIPS:

Reports to:    Executive Director

Supervises:    Community volunteers, Interns

Coordinates with:  Volunteer Crew Heads, ECCT Staff

 
IV.  POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

+ BA/BS in Technical Theatre, Scenic Construction or Design, or related field desired or comparable experience in the field

+ Demonstrated scenic design and construction ability

+ Demonstrated scenic painting knowledge and knowledge of theatrical rigging

+ Knowledge of theatrical lighting and sound reproduction

+Knowledge of theatrical style, conventions and terminology

+ Strong oral communication skills

+ Demonstrated ability to recruit and work with volunteers

+Ability to manage several projects simultaneously

+Strong organizational skills and highly motivated with strong work ethic

+Ability to work with minimal supervision


V.  PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES AND SAMPLE TASKS

+Design and implement scenic, painting and rigging elements for all ECCT productions, rentals and special events at The Oxford and Pablo Center

+Lead crews of volunteers to complete construction, painting, load-in and strike for shows

+Oversee shop maintenance and equipment at ECCT and in The Oxford

+Assist in providing tech services to rentals and special events

+Assist with IT and related tasks as experience allows

+Maintain workshop and storage spaces

+Assist with routine/light maintenance on the facility as it relates to construction and painting

+Other duties as assigned
