Global Communications and Media Relations Coordinator at MENA Pacs
ABOUT MENA PACS:
Mena PACS is an international collaboration management company offering PMO and digital platform tools to global aid agencies throughout the Middle East and North African (MENA). In addition to technical tools, AMENA PACs offer studies and country analysis assessments & risk mitigation tools to for-profit and nonprofit organizations. MENA PACs work in conflict and high-risk zones at the community level and with national and regional governments, focusing on connecting top-down and bottom-up initiatives.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Global Communications and Media Relations department focuses on maximizing the presence of CFR in print, broadcast, and online media outlets and on promoting CFR's roster of products, which includes on-the-record events, CFR books, Council Special Reports, Task Force reports working papers, online publications and interactive features, and Foreign Affairs articles. The department also uses to ensure that CFR experts are visible in the news media.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The primary responsibilities of this position will include (but are not limited to):
° Fielding media requests for CFR experts
° Tracking press transitions and updating press lists in CRM
° Using media monitoring services to track CFR media mentions and compiling mentions for the department
° Pulling sound bites from the broadcast interview for the CFR homepage
° Compile daily foreign policy op-eds
° Assist with digital marketing tasks, including following the growth of social media accounts and pulling quotes from podcasts and conference calls
QUALIFICATIONS
° Undergraduate student with a concentration in international relations, political science, journalism, P.R./marketing, or public affairs
° All applicants should have completed the equivalent of four semesters of college coursework (not including A.P. classes in high school) by the time they begin an internship
° Previous internship experience at media organizations think tanks, nonprofit organizations, NGO's or P.R. firms preferred
° Previous experience working on a college paper/journal preferred
° Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, as well as social media channels and research databases
° Ability to multitask and work well collectively in a fast-paced environment
° A demonstrated interest in media relations and public affairs, or foreign policy/international affairs and global issues preferred
POSITION CONSIDERATIONS:
· This is an unpaid internship.
· Externship, internship, and college credits & mentorships eligible
· Minimum commitment of three-months – up to one year
· French and Arabic languages are desired
· This is a remote/teleworking position (occasional travel might be required)
· A minimum of 25 hours - up to 40 hours/ week
· Multiple time zones working hours
· Starts immediately – acceptance on a rolling basis
