Nurse Clinical Instructor

The DMHAS, Connecticut Mental Health Center (CMHC) is currently recruiting for a Nurse Clinical Instructor (Psychiatric) within the Nursing Department. The incumbent will work under the direction of the Director of Nursing at CMHC. This position is located at 34 Park Street, New Haven, CT. It is a full time, 37.50 hours per week. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The position number is 129145. 

Our vision at CMHC is to treat people with mental illness in their communities, provide a place for researchers from many fields to find new treatments, and teach professionals in the care of mental illness. We are an urban community mental health center with an exceptional 30-year tradition of serving individuals with serious mental illness. Founded in 1966, our facility cares for more than 5,000 people a year in a variety of services.  We treat individuals suffering from severe and persistent psychosis, depression, anxiety, addictions (including alcoholism, cocaine, and gambling) and those with co-existing mental health and addiction problems. 

In this role as a Nurse Clinical Instructor, you will discover the opportunity to: 

  • Be responsible for planning, developing, executing and evaluating professional development seminars, workshops, curricula and other instructional activities for professional, paraprofessional and health profession; 
  • Utilize teaching and training skill sets in various settings such as one-on-one meetings, classroom and/or smaller groups while utilizing different platforms, i.e., Microsoft Teams, Zoom, etc.; and 
  • Educate new nurses on DMHAS nursing policies, competencies, and skills to successfully perform the essential function of nursing duties.
