Rec. Leader II, Banquets and Reservation Support

Description/Duties & Responsibilities
The City of Santa Clarita has multiple part-time/seasonal (PTS) positions available in the Arts and Events division. Under the leadership of the Arts and Events Supervisor and Coordinator, this position will assist the Venue Reservations team in facilitating room reservations at various facilities.
This position may work up to 20 hours per week and must have the ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and some holidays.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Assists in organization, set-up, clean-up, and monitoring of facility, events, and rentals
• Preform facility set ups and tear downs for events at various facilities
• Perform wide variety of office clerical/administrative support tasks/duties for the Venue Reservations team
• Interact with patrons in person, via email, and phone
• Greet customers and answer inquiries for facility reservations
• Filing, copying, recordkeeping, inventory, and written correspondence
• Inspects facility debris and unsafe conditions, malfunctioning equipment, keeps all of the walkways and building entrances cleared and safe, and continuously monitors safety of all areas of facility
• Maintain various forms, logs, and reports
• Ensure cleanliness and safety of facilities
• Report incidents and accidents
• Supervise facilities when working independently
• Follows and enforces City policies as they relate to the health, behavior, and safety of others
• Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience
• High school graduate or GED equivalent
• One-year of paid or volunteer experience in event organization, facility operations, clerical support, or other related experience
• Possession of valid Class C California driver’s license required

Knowledge and Abilities
• Positive, team-oriented, self-motivated, and enthusiastic
• Ability to communicate effectively, tactfully, and positively, both verbally and in writing
• Strong computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Zoom
• Strong team player and the ability to work both independently and in a group
• Ability to maintain professionalism and exhibit good judgement in difficult situations
• Strong work ethic, proactive, and the ability to learn quickly
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
• Ability to organize and prioritize a variety of tasks in an effective and timely manner

• Ability to demonstrate a reliable and responsible work ethic, demonstrate patience and have a proactive, can-do attitude
• Ability to follow proper safety protocol and pay strict attention to safety at all times
• Ability to lift boxes and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds; set-up/tear-down and move tables, chairs, PA systems, etc.
• Flexibility to work a variety of days/hours including weekends
