Structured Origination Summer College Intern

Position Specific Description
Gexa Energy/NextEra Energy Services is one of the fastest-growing retail energy providers, delivering innovative energy solutions with affordable electricity plans, including 100 percent renewable energy plans to more than 1.1 million residential and business customers throughout North America.
 
NextEra Energy Services is looking for a Origination Intern in our Retail C&I Structured Sales group.
 
In this role, you will work with our Structured Sales team and help them evaluate, analyze, and pursue client opportunities. You will learn about our diverse offering of energy solutions including: C&I retail products, grid-level energy products, distributed generation (incl. renewables), behind-the-meter storage, and fleet mobility. You will see the sales cycle through from start to finish – from sourcing clients, structuring deals with creative solutions, and contracting. This position will focus on large C&I clients in any competitive market territory.
 
Origination Intern Focus Areas
•  Conduct conference calls with potential customers and front-line originators to understand their needs
•  Research public information about potential customers and/or competitors, analyzes data, and formulates a summary and/or recommendation to present to the Origination team
•  Prepares customer presentation materials
•  Meet with other groups within Retail C&I to understand the complete deal lifecycle and the role each group plays in delivery energy products and services.
•  Performs other job-related duties as assigned
 
 
Preferred Qualifications
  • Applicants should have some experience in sales from any industry.
 
 Education, Experience, Skills
  • Academic focus in Business, Finance, Economics, or Marketing
  • Strong customer education and communication skills
  • Excellent teamwork and project management capabilities
 

Job Overview

To be considered for an internship, you must be actively enrolled at a college or university as a full-time student seeking a bachelor’s degree or higher. You must also have a current cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher (on a 0.00 to 4.00 scale).

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assists department with assigned projects
  • Completes challenging projects and assignments
  • Presents final project to senior leadership at the end of the internship
  • Assumes responsibility for own travel, lodging, and transportation necessary to be available for the program
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • High school grad / GED
  • Maintain active enrollment in a Bachelor or higher degree program
  • Maintain cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
