Open Requirements:
- A four-year combination of education from an accredited institution and/or experience in administrative work, which consists of at least two (2) years of prior public records experience.
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution is preferred.
Examples of Work:
- Interprets, applies, and ensures compliance with federal, state and local laws and regulations and policies regarding public records.
- Schedules, assigns, monitors, reviews, and evaluates the work of assigned staff.
- Enters and assigns public records requests to assigned staff.
- Provides guidance and direction to assigned staff for public records requests.
- Reviews, redacts, and edits video/audio for various units of the sheriff’s office as well as 911 audio/history printouts.
- Processes State Capital Repository requests.
- Coordinates and prepares public record requests from attorneys, other law enforcement agencies, insurance companies, State Attorney’s Office, and inmate public records requests.
- Processes subpoena requests.
- Responds to inquiries and complaints from the general public and interprets and explains departmental policies and procedures to customers.
- Files and retrieves various types of documents.
- Operates standard office equipment such as a personal computer, copier, telephone, utilizing word processing, video editing and PDF editing software.
- Maintains confidentiality of records and other sensitive information.
- Communicates clear direction, manages for results and leads organizational change.
- Assigns responsibility, takes corrective action, demonstrates leadership in evaluating, developing and motivating employees.
- Provides continuous one-on-one and classroom training to all subordinates and other staff as necessary.
- Demonstrates proficiency in the City of Jacksonville’s competencies.
- Performs related duties as required.
