Job Description:

Responsibilities

The Hourly Project Assistant II will assist the Bureau of Cancer Epidemiology with several ongoing research studies of cancer outcomes and disparities. The Hourly Project Assistant II will provide project and administrative support for multiple externally funded research studies involving contact of cancer patients. Tasks will include assisting with the day-to-day work of physician and patient mailings, tracking responses received from physicians and patients, maintaining and updating project files and tracking systems, sending second mailings when needed, and other appropriate related duties as assigned. This role will be part-time with anticipated effort of 15-20 hours per week at an hourly rate of $22/hour.

The Bureau of Cancer Epidemiology houses the New York State Cancer Registry, which collects data on all cases of cancer diagnosed or treated in New York State. The Hourly Project Assistant II may also assist with selected Registry tasks as needed, including quality control projects.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma, or equivalent, and two years of general office, secretarial, administrative and/or project assistant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

At least three years of experience providing administrative support to multiple staff in an office setting. Experience working with databases, spreadsheets, and word processing software, including Microsoft Excel and Access. Experience with data entry and filing. Experience maintaining and tracking office supply inventory.

Conditions of Employment
Grant funded, hourly position expected to last through 05/30/2025. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required.

Valid and unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. is required. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.


This position requires that the incumbent will report to the official work location and live within commuting distance to the official work location. Telecommuting will not be available.
