The College of Education invites applications for a full-time (1.00 FTE), 12-month, fixed-term, Research Associate position. Reappointment is at the discretion of the Dean.
This position supports multiple evaluation and research projects, including the Center for Oldest Ice Exploration (COLDEX) funded by the US National Science Foundation and headquartered in the College of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences at Oregon State University, which aspires to expand diversity equity and inclusion in the earth sciences. Main responsibilities include creating research designs and tools, collecting and analyzing data, and writing research papers and reports. It will also help create novel educational and professional development programs and tools for university faculty and early career scientists (e.g., university students and postdoctoral researchers), including developing and implementing programs to diversify science and transfer scientific knowledge to stakeholders and the public.
The research associate will work as part of the project evaluation, research, and development team under principal investigator Dr. Jana Bouwma-Gearhart, the Associate Dean of Research in the OSU College of Education.

Key Responsibilities
10% - Collaborate with project leadership and the evaluation/research team to plan, evaluate and research project education components, and guide related programming for faculty and postdoctoral researchers, graduate and undergraduate students and K-12 educators.
10% – Develop evaluation and research designs, tools and frameworks.
20% – Gather data.
20% – Analyze, interpret and draw conclusions from the data collected.
20% - Prepare and deliver oral presentations and written reports and papers; including authoring/co-authoring publications as a result of the research.
15% - Coordinate and strategize project education activities and limited outreach and engagement.
5% - Supervision
What You Will Need
• Ph.D. in the Education Sciences or related fields
• Experience and/or interests in the evaluation of and research concerning education programming
• Expertise in data management and analysis
• Experience in creating data dissemination products for diverse stakeholders
• Evidence of excellent writing and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively on a team and complex projects
• Strong organization skills and attention to detail
• Demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice
What We Would Like You to Have
• Experience as a faculty member or as an administrator at the university level
• A background in STEM education
Working Conditions / Work Schedule
This position may require some travel for data collection, presentations, and project meetings.
