Life Scientist/Environmental Engineer/Physical Scientist - R5

This is an office-centered position*--you must physically report to the duty station stated in this announcement on a regular basis.

Duties

At the entry level of this position, you will:

  • Assist senior staff with providing programmatic, scientific, and technical information and assistance to stakeholders on activities to promote a multi-media (i.e., air, water, land) approach to prevention prevention/source reduction and conservation of natural resources with a special emphasis on protecting environmental justice communities and vulnerable populations.
  • Prepare documentation for grants, cooperative agreements, interagency agreements, and/or contracts supporting communities with a special emphasis on environmental justice communities and vulnerable populations.
  • Conduct outreach and community involvement activities and environmental assessments within EPA and with other entities, particularly environmental justice communities, to promote a multi-media approach to prevention prevention/source reduction and conservation of natural resources.
  • Advise on, and assist in, the implementation of program policies and priorities through various national grant competition processes, participate on work groups, and support and engage in the measurement of program results.

When entering a Federal job at a grade level lower than the highest promotion potential level, you may be promoted to more complex duties and work more independently, as your career progresses.  NOTE:  Career ladder promotions are not automatic, and all eligibility and qualifications requirements must be met in order to progress to the next grade level.

You will spend 25-50% of your work time on contracts, grants/cooperative agreements, and/or interagency agreements.
